Our Chief Technology Office sits at the core of our business and focuses on innovative technology development and engineering. The CTO mission is to maintain a centre of excellence for technology and broader infrastructure-related innovation, translating market needs into core expansion programmes to enable market development. Ultimately, we ensure that Inmarsat’s products and services are constantly pushing the boundaries of satellite communications to provide a continuous improved experience and broader reach for end users.

The CTO team is responsible for delivering Inmarsat development programmes, including satellites and launchers, ground infrastructure (ground stations, networks, user terminals and access technology), regulatory, market access and product and service development. The CTO team has a hub in London but location is not our priority, engineering excellence and a sharp mind-set suited to commercial delivery and innovation are. We have key personnel based all over the world, including Nyon, Switzerland; Toulouse and Cannes, France; various locations in the US (among others DC and Palm Bay Florida), plus other various regions.

Our regular recruitment focus is on engineering: we seek to recruit practical, solution-minded, strong engineers with an educational qualification in various fields (Communications, Aeronautical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering), Maths, Physics or Computer Science, ideally with experience in satellite communications, networks, hardware or software development. We hire professionals from all over our industry and specifically seek commercially focused, industry relevant product experts who can partner with our commercial teams to drive product development.

Typically roles we recruit for are Systems Engineers, Communication Engineers (RF, Signal processing, physical layer development), Product Development Managers, Network and Software Architects, User Terminal Development. We also have a strong team within our Space Segment group, where talented engineers manage the unique lifecycle of sophisticated satellite design and construction, these include payload engineers, product assurance experts and satellite platform specialists.
