Job Description

Primary role purpose:

Working as part of the Yield and Capacity Management division, and with key stakeholders across the business, the post holder will work across the product lines to develop and support yield analysis, commercial opportunity appraisal, capacity forecasting, system resource analysis, cost base analysis, and provide recommendations to support key investment and product positioning decisions including commercial pricing.


He/she will support Ka-band, L-band and S-band strategic development activities including analysis of potential strategic partnerships, competitive environment, and product positioning along the value chain. Additionally, contribute to the successful introduction of GX in the market via the development and support of competitive analysis, business development support, and product positioning approaches. This will mean working closely with the wider sales team, along with CTO, CFO and COO teams.

Gathering input from all key commercial and technical areas of the business, the post holder will develop tools, processes and strategies to manage capacity charge of all Inmarsat networks. He/she will influence the development, distribution & positioning of future products and services through providing performance indicators (e.g. charge of capacity, capacity availability etc.). He/she will draw upon their strong industry knowledge and technological understanding to ensure maximum and objective impact on our business growth.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

Reactive part (assess opportunities) – 70%

  • Manage yield analysis of commercial and new investment projects
  • Liaise with key stakeholders across the organization to deliver timely analysis and opportunity appraisals to be reviewed by the Exec team
  • Assisting with strategies to optimize pricing
  • Become the go-to person in charge of identifying the airtime capacity charge on all Inmarsat networks, with continued updates to the capacity charge
  • Support capacity forecasting & analysis
  • Support with maintaining a competitive analysis tool and full-stack view of competitor capabilities, providing ad-hoc analysis where and when required in support of:
    • space segment decision-making
    • identifying market price benchmarks
    • commercial competitive positioning
    • target market analysis
  • Support with maintaining a deal tracker of commercial opportunities across the business, providing comparable metrics such as internal price benchmarks
  • Provide feedback on pricing for commercial opportunities going to Transaction Review Board

Proactive part (optimize yield) – 30%

  • Identify new commercial opportunities Globally
  • Take initiatives to identify areas of improvement across the business (improved processes, reduction of cost, etc.) and provide solutions to improve on any weaknesses
  • Host working groups/working sessions to spread awareness the values of yield
  • Work with different groups on new projects that will result in increase of revenue

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • BSc. required, preferably MSc. in either Business or an Engineering discipline
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills
  • Advanced skills with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Comfortable with financial modeling and business appraisal methodologies
  • Satellite product or industry knowledge
  • Ability to build strong relationships with key senior stakeholders and share information clearly and concisely, explaining complex information in the simplest way possible.
  • Strong communication skills, written and oral, including the ability to present complex, conceptual information in a clear and concise manner
  • Good interpersonal capabilities with ability to work cross-functionally at all levels, adaptable and focused
  • Resourceful approach and tenacity to ensure the best outcome is achieved
  • Excellent time management and organisation skill with high attention to detail
  • A high degree of integrity and accountability

Desirable Knowledge and Skills:

  • MBA and/or Masters in Economics
  • Knowledge of Tableau tool usage
  • Knowledge of using statistical tools (e.g. SPSS, MatLab, R)
