Central to this change is obtaining effective leverage the service catalogue, Inmarsat’s single source of truth for all of the technical elements used to create its products.

The Service Assurance team is a crucial part of Inmarsat’s organization; it not only maintains the core suite of systems that underpin our networks and services but it is also responsible for the management of our technical services portfolio. The Service Assurance team works closely with the IT, service, network and engineering teams to verify that new services meet the needs of the business and customers and that they are fully test before being released and sold.

As Service Catalogue Provisioning Designer you will help shape the development of Inmarsat’s services. You will leverage your understanding of underlying network and service platforms and interfaces to accurately design, model and configure new technical services and to manage, support and optimize all existing services. You will use the service catalogue to configure the technical CFS (Customer-Facing Services) and RFS (Resource-Facing Services), design the specifications of technical services and to define and optimize the technical fulfilment workflow through the P&A (Provisioning & Activation) tool.  

You will help deliver value and increased productivity to the business and our customers through quicker, catalogue-driven fulfilment of our services. As Service Catalogue Provisioning Designer your ability to accurately model changes in the catalogue will help enable Inmarsat’s service strategy. And as team leader your ability to lead and manage others will also contribute to the team’s success.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design new services in the Nokia/Comptel Service Catalogue and P&A components
  • Perform service modelling of new CFS and RFS structures and technical services
  • Modify the configuration of existing services, as needed
  • Fine-tune the workflow between technical services
  • Optimise the timing and sequencing of API calls to underlying network and service platforms
  • Engage closely with IT, service, network and engineering teams to fully test new services
  • Act as the gate keeper of changes to Service Catalogue that are both business and technically-impacting
  • Act as the point of contact for all troubleshooting and/or modification of workflows
  • Act as team leader for the wider Service Catalogue team, helping shape individuals’ performance on the job and success in their roles
  • Understand typical telecoms network architecture, network service platforms and mobile service platforms (data and voice service)
  • Understand basics of scripting e.g. Python and Perl
  • Leverage understanding of inventory management, networking, and types of platform interfaces e.g. APIs
  • Perform service models for new services using the Nokia/Comptel Service Catalogue and P&A components
  • Understand how a commercial catalogue interfaces with a service catalogue
  • Leverage experience (systems analyst skills) to analyse business requirements and create the underlying services in the catalogue in the most effective way to deliver these requirements (construct of: CFS, RFS, technical services)
  • Understand how the catalogue integrates with downstream systems, support testing of the entire solution (when developing or optimising services), and contribute to test plans definition and execution
  • Effectively use stakeholder management skills to work with related teams and lead individuals
  • Preferred: Understand how telecom services are typically modelled in a service catalogue

  • MSc (ideally technical degree) or equivalent experience
  • Post graduate or equivalent experience
  • Experience contributing to successful projects and delivering BAU changes
  • Experience leading teams
  • Preferred: telecoms experience on TDM/IP voice or network service platforms
  • Preferred: understanding and experience of Satellite or MNO
