Job Description

Primary role purpose:

The role is part of the business design team, which is responsible for delivering detailed business requirements and processes that will be used to develop and build an end to end IT solution and introduce a new way of working in order to achieve targeted business outcomes.  This business design team is part of a major transformation programme.

Job Requirements

This role will be responsible for planning and managing business design sprints and workshops so they are executed to a high standard and achieve the intended outcomes. We operating a tiered (hybrid) agile methodology, and initially the role will only be in the business design phase (e.g. we augment the traditional scrum events/meetings with design workshops).

The role will work with our programme and business users to ensure optimal use of resources and time, particularly with people not in the programme team in the business.

 

As part of the wider programme management team the role may be required to support other work packages during the lifetime of the programme.

 

The role will be responsible for e2e management of the business workshops, which form part of the sprints. Sprints will involve engagement with multiple internal IT/business teams, 3rd party legacy vendors and work closely with our programme partner, delivery partner ad testing partner.  Coordination of all these teams is a key part of the role.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for the Business Design workshops and outcomes
  • Ensures programme methodology is implemented and applies agile principles in each Business Design workshop
  • Augment the traditional scrum events/meetings with design workshops with the business
  • Plans and chairs the business design workshops sessions
  • Accountable for co-ordinating the production and distribution of pre-read material, user stories and use cases, requirements, processes to facilitate each workshop
  • Coordinates Sprint execution and ensures the workshop team remain on target using leadership skills
  • Monitors the flow and review of material (use cases, requirement and processes) and approval in line with Sprint plan and methodology
  • Drives the completion of actions identified in each workshop sessions
  • Removes blockers or impediments that hinder progress
  • Ensures the Business Design sprint methodology is followed
  • Supports Business design team to define and manage the requirements backlog for each sprint
  • Manages dependencies inwards to the business workshop and outwards across the programme generally
  • Monitors and helps improve team dynamics
  • Can do, get it done attitude

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Suitable experience in Satcom, Telecom or similar industry
  • Experience managing projects or scrums with components delivered by System Integrators.
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills with ability to build relationships with technical, business and senior management stakeholders.
  • Results oriented with a proven ability to drive team engagements in an aggressive and time sensitive environment in a geographically dispersed model.
  • Able to work independently and take a logical and orderly approach to analysing problems, organizing work and planning actions.
  • Experience of working on with agile programme methodologies
  • Experience of managing and motivating a team
  • Management of 3rd party vendors and System Integrators
  • Experience in managing a diverse onshore & offshore team
  • Ability to work with the technical teams to understand data issues and articulate them into business understanding
