Central to this change is obtaining effective leverage the service catalogue, Inmarsat’s single source of truth for all of the technical elements used to create its products.

The Service Assurance team is a crucial part of Inmarsat’s organization; it not only maintains the core suite of systems that underpin our networks and services but it is also responsible for the management of our technical services portfolio. The Service Assurance team works closely with the IT, service, network and engineering teams to verify that new services meet the needs of the business and customers and that they are fully test before being released and sold.

As Provisioning & Fallout Specialist you will help ensure the smooth running of Inmarsat’s services. You will use your understanding of underlying networks, service platforms and interfaces to troubleshoot and resolve any errors resulting from order submission and processing. You will use the service catalogue and the Provisioning and Activation (P&A) tool to monitor and interpret the status of transactions in technical orders to diagnose and resolve problems with orders submitted by customers and Inmarsat business units. You will actively manage and resolve order fallouts, resume processing of orders, and in the case of a network element outage you will ensure that the orders resume automatically. You will also use analytics tools to build reports for root-cause analysis and troubleshooting that help inform and improve our Service Assurance operations.

You will help deliver value and increased productivity to the business and to our customers through quick resolution of order fallout and root-cause analytics to improve the fulfilment of our services. As Provisioning & Fallout Specialist your ability to accurately assess reasons for technical errors and resolve them will help enable Inmarsat’s service strategy.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use the Nokia/Comptel Provisioning and Activation (P&A) tool to view and interpret the status of orders to inform diagnostics
  • Resolve order fallouts and ensure that normal order processing resumes
  • Identify patterns of errors that may suggest points of failure in underlying systems or require configuration changes
  • Use analytics tools to build reports for root-cause analysis and troubleshooting e.g. Google Cloud Platform
  • Engage closely with IT, service, network and engineering teams to test submission and processing of new services
  • Act as the point of contact for all troubleshooting and/or diagnostics of order fallout
  • Understand typical telecoms network architecture, network service platforms and mobile service platforms (data and voice service)
  • Master the use and functions of the Nokia/Comptel P&A tool and associated LRM and CFS
  • Perform fixes and optimize configuration of P&A systems to improve and prevent order failures
  • Understand Inmarsat’s service infrastructure and underlying networks to build a complete and detailed knowledge of end to end service activation
  • Effectively use stakeholder management skills to work with related teams and individuals

  • BSc/BEng or equivalent
  • Post-graduation work experience in a technical environment
  • Experience contributing to successful projects and delivering BAU changes
  • Preferred: telecoms experience of 3GPP network service platforms
  • Preferred: experience of IP switching and routing – Cisco or similar
  • Preferred: understanding and experience of Satellite or MNO
  • Preferred: Nokia/Comptel SC and P&A trained
