Job Description

Primary role purpose:

Due to growth within the aviation business, evolution of high bandwidth networks and expansion of a direct to airline capability; the role of airline product manager has become available within the aviation business unit. We are looking for a Product Manager to lead the product development and ensure high return on investment (ROI). You will work with our Service Delivery and Chief Technology Office teams to define product release requirements. You will translate ideas into strategy and features, and follow the product development from start to finish. You will also serve as the internal and external evangelist for your product offering, working with our sales channels and key customers.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the product & service lifecycle from concept through launch to retirement.
  • Elicit product requirements through customer consultation and working with both the technical marketing and regional sales teams.
  • Develop product requirement and roadmaps.
  • Define the addressable markets for given product opportunities.
  • Develop the airline connectivity and value add product features.
  • Create the product messaging for the airline product portfolio.
  • Work with business unit and corporate marketing communication teams to ensure airline product message stays within guidelines.
  • Support Aviation Business Unit teams as the technical product subject matter expert.
  • Work with Aviation Service Delivery teams to align products with core capabilities.
  • Produce product collateral including service descriptions and bid boilerplate for marketing, commercial, and regional aviation teams.
  • Define technical solutions and support responses to airline RFI/RFPs.
  • Provide regular updates to Aviation Business Unit teams and Inmarsat central teams on airline product and roadmaps.

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • University degree or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Extensive product management experience within commercial aviation or telecoms
  • Able to demonstrate success at defining and launching aviation or telecommunications products.
  • Good communication skills at all levels of an organisation

Desirable Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of the technical and commercial constraints of delivering services within an airline cabin environment.
