Job Snapshot

Job Description

Purpose of Role:

Process Architects will drive the design and implementation of key processes in Inmarsat’s value chains either as part of a business transformation programme or in support of a business unit or function which has requirements to build and improve their processes. The role holder will be part of a small, central Process Excellence and Change team which has the remit of delivering efficient and effective processes that make it easier for customers to do business with Inmarsat.

Job Requirements

Key responsibilities of the position:

The success criteria for a process project or work-stream relate not only to the creation of process assets such as process flow diagrams and KPIs but also to the successful adoption of improved ways of working, evidence of process management and active continuous improvement in operational daily activities in the teams once the project is completed.

All process assets must be produced in line with Inmarsat’s Process Excellence framework which defines a set of process deliverables and quality standards.  Processes must be reviewed and signed off by the Inmarsat Business Process Architect (BPA) who is responsible for ensuring that all process models meet the required process mapping standards. Processes are also subject to review and approval from the relevant process owners before submission to Inmarsat’s process change board which governs publication of process in Inmarsat’s corporate process library.

The maturity level of all processes that are delivered by process architects must be at Certification Standard – ie  if a third party assessor were to audit the performance of the processes, they would be accredited to ISO9001 standard which is the basis of Inmarsat’s Quality Management System.

In order to reach Certification Standard,  process owners, managers and actors within the processes need to be fully trained and supported to understand how to operate the processes to meet the required standards as defined by the process KPIs and to know when and how to improve performance if targets are not being met.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of process design and implementation  and must be able to demonstrate how processes have been embedded and adopted in business teams as part of their work. A good understanding of how to engage stakeholders and a strong linkage between process design work, communication, training and overall change impact assessment is essential.
