Job Description

Primary Purpose of the Role:

The Pre Sales Engineer is dedicated to support the Regional Sales Teams, Business Development Teams and Sector Teams in their efforts to grow revenue within the Global Government Business Unit.

The PSE will be responsible for the timely execution of technical demonstrations to both end-users, channel partners, technology partners Etc.  They will also provide technical assistance in the setup of customer trials and any Global Government activity requiring their expertise; as such the PSE is to be fluent in the entire Inmarsat portfolio and ensure through partner enablement that products and services are at the forefront of the minds of those that seek out and fulfil sales opportunities.

The PSE is a pivotal member of the Inmarsat Technical community and engages pro-actively with a broad cross-section of the Inmarsat organisation, including but not limited to CTO, COO, GTS, GCS, Marketing, Training Academy and sister Business Units.  Furthermore, the PSE will have close ties to the end-user and channel partner engineering fraternity.

End users and channel partners will benefit from the deep technical understanding and expertise of the Pre Sales Engineer. The focus of the role is to understand and influence the technical requirements of the end-user, using the entire Inmarsat portfolio to resolve and satisfy end user requirements.

Provide in-depth technical training to end-users, partner engineer/techs and deliver this through strategic and market driven activities, be that dedicated training events, satcom clubs, conferences etc.

The PSE will ensure that key strategic objectives at the executive level permeate throughout their daily tasks, in line with Inmarsat ideologies and values.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with customers, partners and sales teams to define, understand and shape technical solutions to meet or exceed end-user requirements.
  • Develop high quality materials (via diverse media white papers/PowerPoint/user guides/videos etc.) and comprehensive hands-on serials that span the entire Inmarsat portfolio.
  • Have a deep understanding of regional needs that are ever mindful of cost, budget and cultural considerations.
  • Assist partners/end-users in the development of clear technology/strategy roadmaps related to the development and use of Inmarsat services for the long term.
  • Support bidding activity with timely, accurate and well written input to bid/tender responses RFI/RFP.
  • Working closely with technology partners, understand and develop knowledge of integrated solutions that benefit customers.
  • Create detailed post demo technical reports to highlight areas of improvement and also to replicate successes and enhance knowledge throughout the PSE community.
  • Be available to support the sales channel with customer demonstrations and provide technical training as appropriate.
  • Keep abreast of new technology and solution vendors that could be used to address specific customer requirements.
  • Take ownership of regionally held demo stock, ensure high-level availability through up to date firmware/software, terminal provisioning and the creation of records detailing equipment status.
  • Be technically fluent on all Inmarsat products and services (network infrastructure/space segment/remote terminals).
  • Be responsible for compliance in relation to the export/import of Inmarsat owned hardware/software.
  • Have a good understanding of competitor’s technology to counter questions/challenges and promote Inmarsat USP’s.
