Job Description

Primary Purpose of the Role:

The primary function of this role is to provide the central point of engagement for the Global Government sales teams for L-Band services and solutions.  This role will facilitate introduction to commercial service and through life management of Inmarsat L-Band solutions being offered to partners and end users by the Global Government BU. 

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain a catalogue of L-Band solutions supported by Inmarsat G2.

Develop and maintain key contacts with each of the internal or external hardware and solutions providers contributing to supported Inmarsat G2 L-Band solutions

Provide the first point of contact for any G2 staff requiring information on supported G2 L-Band solutions

Liaise with Marketing, CTO, COO, GCO, other BU peers to on-board new L-Band solutions to the G2 catalogue where appropriate, including but not limited to;

  • Marketing materials, whitepapers and brochure development;
  • Service and solution pricing development and approval;
  • Service and solution ordering; and
  • Service and solution through-life support.

Work with G2 sales teams to raise business cases and support approval for development of new L-Band solutions where commercially practical and aligned with G2 sales strategies.

Liaise with Inmarsat Training Academy and G2 staff to develop and deliver L-Band training / training programmes to partners and end users as required to support sales initiatives.

Provide the bridge between sales teams and engineering / technical teams for information and issues concerning supported G2 L-Band solutions. 


Essential Knowledge and Skills:

Must have a technical background in terrestrial / satellite communications.

Must have previous experience in the satellite communications industry, with a good commercial understanding of the industry.

As this position directly supports Inmarsat customers in a global community who operate in numerous different time zones, it is essential that working hours are flexible. The staff-member in this role will be expected to work with their line manager to adjust working hours to deliver services as required by the role while maintaining a satisfactory work – life balance.

As this role requires travel, both domestically and internationally, the staff-member in this role will be required, on an irregular basis and provided reasonable notice, to travel sometimes for periods exceeding 7 days, and if required to travel on weekends to meet on-site weekday commitments.

Ability to prepare and deliver technical and / or commercial presentations and reports to both internal and external clients on solutions.

Ability to prepare and internally champion business cases in support of new solution initiatives identified to capture and convert newly identified sales opportunities.

Must be committed to on-going personal development.

Must be able to understand and advocate compliance with Inmarsat WH&S requirements.

They must be self-motivated and be able to motivate their peers to achieve required task and project completion to BEST standard in a busy environment

The post-holder must have and maintain a current passport


Desirable Knowledge and Skills:

Experience and / or formal qualifications in Project or Programme Management

Technical understanding of IP Networking

VSAT (GVF) certification
