Job Description

Primary role purpose:

The primary objective is to ensure the effective project management of the IRIS Programme.  Supporting the Programme Manager who maintains overall authority and responsibility, the Project Manager will ensure that all activities, both internally and externally, are coordinated, tracked and reported.  A key component will be the management of project spend to consortium companies spread across Europe. 

 

The post holder will work with external partners and clients and internal teams to ensure structured, disciplined delivery according to industry standard project and programme protocols.

The role will require some travel, mostly to The Netherlands and Italy.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define the project management processes and methodologies and deploy these to internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure all team members understand their project management responsibilities and work package deliverable content and due dates
  • Ensure project management protocols are adhered to
  • Create, maintain and track detailed project plans that encompass the programme wide activities
  • Ensure that project interdependencies are linked and tracked, and model the impact of any delay to the overall programme
  • Manage project forecasting and resource scheduling
  • Track project finances, ensuring that they are kept up to date and accurate
  • Create and manage risk registers.  Track the progress of any risk mitigation activities
  • Support competitive procurements that result in the formation of a project consortium
  • Drive collaboration and teamwork to execute the plan and monitor progress against the plan.
  • Provide accurate and timely status reporting and produce monthly reporting for internal and customer’s benefit
  • Proactive management approach to achieving deliverables

 

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Highly experienced technical project manager
  • Project Management qualification(s)
  • Proven competence in delivering successful communications or information technology programmes in a complex business / technical environment
  • Technical background in telecommunications
  • Knowledge of aviation communication systems
  • Experience in managing projects across multiple locations
  • Experience of managing multiple technical work-streams
  • Experience of implementing and controlling Change Management
  • Project planning, forecasting & reporting to project stakeholders
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft specifically Project, Excel and Visio
  • Able to travel internationally, typically for one-day meetings in The Netherlands and Italy

 

Desirable Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience and management of aviation projects
  • Knowledge of Aviation technical certification process
  • Knowledge of satellite communications
  • Experience of managing Testing and Acceptance projects
  • Experience of working at both project and programme level
