Job Description

Primary Purpose of the Role:

  •  Responsible for ensuring the business has innovative, compelling and differentiated service offerings
  • Responsible for promoting the capabilities, strategic roadmaps and technologies of the organisation to external stakeholders, including government agencies, technology providers and as requested by sales to end-users and partners

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop and Deliver the annual Business Unit product roadmap, in collaboration with Group EVP Product Management’s team.
  • Continue the development and delivery of the recently implemented Impact suite capabilities to ensure it continues to provides compelling and engaging visualisation and modelling of G2 business opportunities. Impact is a dedicated multimedia facility featuring advanced graphical, virtual reality and augmented reality environment that provides interactive modelling of operational scenarios and high grade visualisation of current and future capability
  • Manage G2’s innovation within Inmarsat;
  • Be the interface between chief product, digital and technology offices for strategic product and network developments and innovation, feeding in market requirements from sector teams. Note; it is assumed the sector team technical leads will interface with the relevant CPO product manager to align the development and launch of the products relevant to their sector.
  • Foster relationships with other BUs, aligning and collaborating commercially and technically on astrategic level.
  • Promote our Strategic Roadmap and Innovation initiatives


Key Performance Objectives

  • Impact team engaged and motivated, delivering effective content to the BU’s needs
  • Technology strategy delivered and socialised across the business.  Strategy aligns with wider business strategy and  accurately  identifies relevant market gaps and opportunities
  • Product development progress and risks effectively managed with one truth shared between the BU and the Group Product team
  • G2’s 2018 product roadmap clearly articulated and socialised
  • Innovation used as an effective tool to secure future business
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding and a finger on pulse of technological, commercial and industry developments. Engagement with the wider defence and communications industries to promote collaboration and engagement on strategic innovation projects
  • New product / network requirements and pricing changes clearly captured; business cases delivered and approved


Desirable Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proven experience of developing technology and product roadmaps in satcom or telecoms industries
  • Knowledge of government communications and related operations
  • Experience of satcom, bonus points if across  Inmarsat / Iridium / Thuraya systems
