Job Description

Primary role purpose:

We are currently presenting an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Specialist to join our Human Resources team which is within the Corporate Development Division of Inmarsat’s business. The Human Resource function is outward facing and proactive in its management of Inmarsat’s Canadian office.

The role will support the Regional HR Director, North America in the management of the employees of the Canadian offices. The role will be responsible for managing all aspects of the recruitment and on boarding process while ensuring we meet federally regulated guidelines.  In addition to strong interpersonal capabilities, the candidate must demonstrate proven ability to ensure employee relations are managed appropriately and that all human resources process and practices are adhered into within the legislated framework.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for providing services for leaders and employees on matters related to performance management, employee relations and administration of HR policies and programs
  • Managing all aspects of the recruitment process, including assisting with position descriptions, managing recruitment vendors when necessary and conducting interviews, in addition to coordinating background checks and providing orientation to new employees.
  • Support in the preparation of the annual Federally regulated employment equity report
  • Responsible for working with the organization to ensure employee relations are managed by building effective feedback mechanisms, promoting organizational culture and monitoring application of human rights principles.
  • Conducting safety inspections and maintaining accidents reports in accordance with legislature
  • Assist with the implementation of new and existing human resources programs and policies
  • Provide Human Resources support for the Canadian offices operations and working with our UK-headquartered company and all members of the international human resources team

 

 Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • University degree with a concentration in Human Resources
  • 3-5 years of experience in the area of Human Resources with experience in recruitment and onboarding
  • Experience working for a federally regulated organization and being familiar with employment equity processes and practices
  • Proven Success in the areas of performance management, attendance management, employee relations
  • Strong competencies in oral and written communication skills, you have the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and employees
  • Well-developed computer skills in MS Office / Professional suites.
