Primary Purpose of the Role:

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a dynamic, successful and market leading organization in a high profile position focused on strategic business development, through compelling growth initiatives.

The successful candidate will join a Team of high skilled professionals tasked to deliver the long-term business growth of the Maritime Business Unit within the digital era, leading to a three figure million dollar revenue stream in 5-7 years. With a proven track record in business development (preferably maritime), the successful candidate will develop new business models; establish new world partner relationships from start to finish: open doors with potential partners, lead exploratory talks, build consensus with senior executives internal and external to Inmarsat, negotiate and drive new partnerships to deliver results, and build strong long-term partner relationships. He/she will drive collaboration with partner and internal operations, marketing and sales teams to complete commercial and technical implementation; Build and nurture strong relationships with third parties, working directly with some partners and through “one-to-many” models to create and build large and successful new partner ecosystems.

Applicants will have proven successful execution experience on complex techno-commercial business opportunities, and be able to navigate the value chain for the provision of maritime communications and related value-add applications and services. 

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • With a proven skill set that includes entrepreneurship, adaptability and agility, contribute meaningfully to the transformation of Maritime Business models.
  • Drive these transformations in a complex matrix organisational environment with Sales, Marketing, Finance, the Product and Technology departments
  • Support the delivery of the planned P&L growth in CAP and New Digital Maritime Business supported by a detailed market analysis and business case.
  • Work as an integral part of a world-class team which includes recognised experts in Maritime and international Business Development.
  • Work with key stakeholders across the business and with key partners, to build and refine a compelling and differentiated channel development strategy.
  • Leverage existing knowledge and experience to further populate the Maritime market model to determine areas worthy of deep dive analysis.
  • Lead Deep Dive meetings with customers / end users / partners and analysts in high-value global markets, existing and new.
  • Map stakeholders, identify and recruit potential channel partners and develop the requisite market intelligence for an aggressive business plan.

 

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrable experience working in a similar capacity in telecoms/satcoms, building high-level global customers and partner relationships
  • Has vision on how to achieve these long sector objectives, with the presence and charisma to convince any audience of the route to success.
  • A demonstrable track record of integrity and commercial acumen,
  • A pro-active communicator and a thought leader– natural sharer of information and collaborator across teams, demonstrating presence and energy; an ability to build strong and powerful relationships, internally and externally.
  • Experience in leading/working in (virtual) team environments with a proven ability to comprehend strategic context and drive it into execution
  • Experience of negotiating & managing commercial partner agreements
  • A natural aptitude for strategic development and Implementation
  • Strong presentation skills, credibility and public speaking ability.
  • An understanding of the industry and key changes that may impact Inmarsat activities and/or abilities to succeed
  • Fluent in English, writing and speaking.

 

Desirable Knowledge and Skills:

  • MBA and/or equivalent experience of Strategy Development and Finance
  • Knowledge of the maritime industry
  • M&A experience
  • Demonstrable experience working closely with operational customers
  • Fluency in additional languages
