Job Description

Primary role purpose:

The SVP, Global Security and Cyber leads an agile organisation, which is responsible for Strategy, Policy and Planning; Governance, Risks and Compliance; Security Engineering; and Security Operations.

Inmarsat’s Global Security and Cyber maintains a rolling, 3-year Security Plan which underpins the implementation of the Cyber Security Projects Portfolio.

Reporting to the Director, Security Strategy, Policy and Planning, the Cyber Security Programme & Portfolio Manager will understand the Group Security strategy and decisions process and help to keep it aligned with corporate strategy.

She / he will assist in the management and delivering of projects that, either because directly responsible or as key stakeholders, are included in the Global Security and Cyber’s Projects Portfolio, coaching and supervising individual project managers as required.

You will require exceptional planning, organisation, analysis, documentation, stakeholder management and inter-personal skills as you draw together a complex spectrum senior internal customers, project managers and technical specialists within the programme.

We are seeking a strong, energetic and proactive individual to help critical stakeholders adopt change in a fluid and challenging environment, adding value at every turn.  Ideally you’ll have experience of both Waterfall and Agile project methodologies with certification from appropriate project management certification bodies i.e. PRINCE2, PMP, APM, etc.

She / he will maintain high professional standards. We are looking for a high-performing candidate with exceptional organisational skills and the ability to understand complex cyber security challenges, adapt at speed and act in a pragmatic manner to overcome those challenges.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities 

  • Managing the life cycle of the Cyber Security Project Portfolio on behalf of the Global Security and Cyber Team.
  • Project delivery using Waterfall and Agile methodologies as well as other best practices.
  • Building strong relationships within the organisation to support and enhance a high performing collaborative approach to achieving departmental goals
  • Confidently and quickly undertaking special projects as required
  • Ability to produce project documentation – project charters, work breakdown structure, risk logs, change management etc.
  • Prioritising and delegating work as appropriate
  • Preparing briefing notes, data and analysis for Group Security leadership team
  • Providing high quality advice and well considered recommendations backed up by accurate and perceptive analysis
  • Engaging with the external security community to maintain understanding of threat environment and protective technology
  • Attending meetings on behalf of Global Security and Cyber
  • Contributing to internal communication materials for the wider organisation
  • Supporting the review of Information Security policies; and overseeing the implementation of user guidelines, processes and procedures supporting and enacting the security policies
  • Leading review and enforcement of Corporate Data Protection and Privacy policies and GDPR compliance

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrable knowledge and previous work experience of ISMS (ISO 27001)
  • Demonstrable knowledge of European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
  • Excellent inter-personal skills
  • Comfortable and confident in leading change
  • Highly Organised and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Resilient and confident under pressure
  • Comfortable communicating at all levels of the organisation
  • Able to take effective and informed decisions independently
  • Ability to see the big picture
  • Demonstrable record of delivering at pace
  • Solid leadership and decision making skills
  • Formal education or qualifications in Information Security preferred, e.g. MSc Information Security; CISM, CISSP.

Desirable Knowledge and Skills:

  • Working knowledge of NIST SP.800-53
  • Working knowledge of NIST Framework for Improving Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity
  • Experience in Risk Management / ISO 27005
  • Understanding of Crisis Management and Business Continuity
  • Knowledge of CERT Resilience Management Model
