Job Description

Role Context:

Inmarsat has recently established a Global Procurement team who will support the organisation, both today and in the future.  The business has been acquisitive and is going through a period of integration and consolidation.  As part of this Global team the Contract Operations team are responsible for negotiating and implementing contracts with our key customers. These are important revenue generating contracts across each of the business units. Developing close working relationships with the BU sales teams, Pricing and Legal to ensure successful implementation of standard contractual framework. 


Primary Purpose:

To deliver an effective operational contract service to the business ensuring relevant policies, processes and risk management strategies are fully implemented utilising a pre-dominantly standard contractual framework.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

1.        Support the Head of Procurement and Contract Operations in the implementation of the operating model for the team.

2.        Ensure the delivery of good service to agree SLA’s with the business.

3.        Be the primary contact for contract requirements relating to the sale of products and services to our partner network (customers) including NDA’s etc

4.        Negotiate customer agreements for multiple service offerings across business units utilising standard frameworks wherever possible

5.        Develop and/or adjust contractual templates for the introduction of new services.

6.        Lead on related negotiations with key customers to ensure Inmarsat’s legal position on important clauses is preserved and standard frameworks respected.

7.        Support and leverage relevant technology in making the task more efficient

8.        Support the implementation of process improvement initiatives (streamlining the offer, sales etc) on a day to day basis.

9.        Challenge all aspects of the contractual framework to ensure contracts can be implemented effectively (operationalised)

10.     Update and maintain contract database/filing systems as may be required

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience of a busy service delivery style environment
  • Excellent prioritisation/organisation skills
  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Effective communicator at all levels of the business
  • Previous commercial/legal/contracts experience

Desirable Knowledge and Skills:

  • Educated to degree level (law degree or post grad qualification)
  • Experience working in a complex global or multisite FTSE100/FTSE250
  • Ability to co-ordinate cross functional teams to an agreed outcome
