Primary role purpose:

The Enterprise Business unit serves a wide range of customers and partners, providing global connectivity across a range of established and emerging sectors. One of the key challenges of the business unit is in finding new revenue opportunities for our mature BGAN and GSPS services while supporting our entry into newer M2M/IoT segments such as transportation or agri-tech. At the same time, the division is laying the foundations for entry into the OEM space with the development of the BGAN Radio Module and chipsets.

This role provides the right candidate with the opportunity to be part of a small high performance marketing team, which is focused on supporting the Enterprise business unit in hitting its revenue targets through the increased adoption of its voice and data portfolio within our target segments.

A key element of the role is initiating, developing and executing marketing campaigns, aligned to corporate and BU brand values and ensuring a clear and coherent public profile for Enterprise with an appropriate tone, and look and feel, to external communications, co-ordinated with Central Marcoms.

This position is responsible for key message development, working in conjunction with partners and other areas of the market strategy and business development teams, and the translation of these key marketing messages into events and online advertising, email marketing, social media campaigns, web copy, collateral and other marketing materials in support of lead-generation campaigns that will feed our partner’s pipelines. The role includes managing relationships with external agencies.

The candidate must be capable of thinking for themselves and taking the initiative. Excellent copywriting, organisational and project management skills are crucial, as well as the ability to multi-task and work under pressure.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Initiate, scope, plan and execute best practice marketing campaigns that will actively contribute to the success of the Enterprise business unit.
  • Work collaboratively with the market strategy and business development teams to develop messaging for products and services, which forms the foundation of all marketing campaigns in respective sectors
  • Produce collateral such as direct marketing, event messaging, white papers, service branding, imagery & video brochures, fact sheets, applications sheets etc
  • Work with the Digital Marketing team to develop appropriate website pages, develop and edit copy, schedule the release of content in line with campaigns, including keeping the relevant internal and intranet pages up to date, in addition to briefing in editorial and signing off articles included in our eNewsletters and ad-hoc emails to channel.
  • Work in salesforce to manage, track and report on campaign performance
  • Test, measure, review, analyse and report on results of campaigns and other marketing activities to ensure continuous improvement. 
  • Set the pace and demand outstanding work from marketing agencies
  • Work cross-BU and with the Commercial Team and Director of Channel to help develop the next generation Partner Portal and own the ongoing content development responsibilities.
  • Manage the efficient use of sales support collateral within the Sales teams
  • Create and manage a marketing balanced scorecard that will show the relative success and performance of marketing campaigns and activities.
  • Safeguard the integrity of the Inmarsat brand and corporate identity across all communications media
  • Ensure alignment between partners marketing activities and Inmarsat’s tactical and strategic objectives
  • Work with any partners who receive funding and internal colleagues to set sales targets that represent growth over trend
  • Determine the effectiveness of partner activities in terms of return on investment, most successful partners, activity types, business areas and geographies to be shared internally and externally
  • Collaborate with Account Management to understand partners business requirements to enable the delivery impactful revenue generating marketing campaigns
  • Provide marketing expertise to partners to enable them to structure better campaigns

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Business to business marketing communications professional with at least four years’ experience across most aspects of the marketing mix ideally gained within telecoms or IT industries
  • Background & strong experience of engaging with Partner channels 
  • First class written communications skills with experience of copywriting for marketing collateral and advertising
  • Good experience in producing different types of printed marketing materials, such as brochures, fact sheets etc.
  • Good understanding of, and experience in digital marketing including, ideally, PPC, email marketing, B2B social media, video syndication etc.
  • Solid experience of working with CRMs and marketing automation tools
  • Experience in supporting tradeshows and seminars through the production of ad hoc marketing materials
  • Degree level educated
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational/project management skills to multi-task and deliver to tight deadlines
  • Proactive ‘can do’ approach to work
  • Design conscious with creative flair
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with collaborative working style
  • Accustomed to working in cross-functional teams

Desirable Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of mobile satellite or cellular industry
  • Salesforce, Mailchimp
  • Some experience working in a B2C environment with telecoms/technology products or services
  • Experience of working in a wholesale environment with channel partners
