Job Description

Primary role purpose:

The primary purpose of the position is to take ownership of the (ICT billing system) Inmarsat's interconnect billing system, manage the acquisition and processing of data, and achieve defined standards of quality and timeliness. The position-holder is the primary point of contact for Inmarsat’s interconnect billing ops activities, and is a source of subject matter of expertise in case major enhancements need to take place. 

 

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the monthly billing cycle, including capture of adjustments, analytic reviews, and the interface of data to the financial system.
  • Monitor usage in suspense and resolve and rerate common errors.
  • Defining requirements for billing system migrations and processes (Interconnect into a new billing platform).
  • Verify and sign of User Acceptance Test cases. (ICT).
  • Ensure that the required quality standards are met, by operating effective control’s procedures. Achieve compliance with internal and external audit requirements. 
  • Support the evolution of Inmarsat's commercial pricing through the configuration of pricing and other key reference data to introduce new prices and maintain existing ones.
  • Conduct projects or assignments to improve quality and performance, deal with change, or resolve issues.
  • Contribute to the continued enhancement of Inmarsat's systems and procedures through documentation, involvement in upgrades, testing etc.
  • Investigate, resolve and respond to queries from Distribution Partners (Wholesale Customers) and other parties
  • Coordinate and translate requirements from the business into development changes to system suppliers/developers. (ICT development on new Billing system)
  • Configure reference data in the billing system accurately.
  • Train and hand over billing ops activities to new members and prepare work instructions.

 

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • University degree, probably business or IT-related.
  • Good working knowledge of SQL, preferable in an Oracle environment.
  • Good standard of written English; ability to prepare concise written summaries when required.
  • Good standard of numeracy and an aptitude for working with structured data in an analytic way.
  • Ability to work in an environment where every solution is not always at hand and using own initiative to improve procedures.
  • Reasonable working knowledge of standard office automation software: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to develop good working relationships with the other members of the billing team, with other Inmarsat staff, and with external contacts as required.
  • Ability to quickly absorb new learning experiences and to deploy new knowledge quickly and effectively.

Desirable Knowledge and Skills:

  • Reasonable understanding or appreciation of high-transaction volume business systems.
  • Experience in a similar role in a mobile/telecommunications operator.
  • Experience of system analysis or testing.
